Couldnt have said it better myself OP. It starts as a hobby or entertainment and turns into an addiction. Then you end up losing valuable time and money doing unproductive shit.

It seems to me that gambling can be a hobby if you are aware of the risks and try to stop if you suddenly feel that you are losing a lot of money.
