Because people have become addicted to making and uploading pictures of themselves on a daily basis.hence why they prefer Instagram over Facebook.

On the other side, people like me have stopped using Facebook years ago, because it got boring and privacy invasive.

People really like to show off and as a platform Instagram really helps them do just that. Dunno about other parts of the world but where I live Facebook is still pretty popular even among younger users as most just use it alongside Instagram. Quite a few people here present wildly different things on their Facebook and Instagram posts so depending on where you live and what the people there are like, you can get a glimpse of what their actual life is like on Facebook. Still amazes me how everyone knows that Instagram shows a fake life yet people still kiss each other's asses over the amazing pic they posted last night and over how exciting their life must be.

 

TLDR: both r kinda shit, prefer Facebook.

Instagram IS Facebook (Facebook Inc. to be more precise)

But yeah to answer your question, I'm using Insta more than Facebook even tho I grew up with the latter.
