Ridiculous, he asked if our proxies HAD IP auth, which it does as clearly shown in the image (https://ibb.co/yRJc56k)
You shouldn't say that WE had to word things better, instead he was the one who shouldn't have worded his enquiry so vaguely, he should've asked "Do the proxies have user:pass?" since that's what he was trying to avoid, or he should've asked "What is the authentication method?", as simple as that, he asked a vague question, we gave him a vague answer, all he asked was if they had IP auth, and we told him that we do.
On top of that, he clearly saw the FAQ that's below the products (https://ibb.co/LZsLcL4), where he can find the information he needs. We never said it doesn't have user:pass because he didn't ask us for that information. I can tell you don't used residential proxies very often, IP:PORT:USER:PASS with IP auth is very common in the proxy market, and no, it doesn't defeat the purpose of IP auth only.
He asked if the proxies have IP auth. That means IP whitelisting. If the IP whitelisting still requires User:pass to be used, it's not a feature (should be clarified, by you, that it always requires user:pass and that IP auth does not remove that need).
The definition of IP authentication, in the proxy world, is that you can access the proxies solely by whitelisting the IP address that will be able to access them without having to use credentials (user:pass or similar)
You are telling me that I dont know about proxies. But I do. And I will make a list of providers that explain this very clearly:
1) https://smartproxy.c...ocess#Whitelist
"...2. IP-based whitelisting (RESI proxies).
IP whitelisting allows you to create lists of trusted IP addresses. If you choose whitelist authentication method, you won’t need to use credentials – whitelisted IP addresses do not require the user:pass authentication. You can whitelist your IP in the Whitelisted IPs tab on the left..."
2) https://proxyscrape....-authentication
"Proxy Authentication using IP address
The most secure method of authentication is using an IP address. You require the IP and port in the proxy settings if you set IP authentication. You can configure your browser’s IP address which you use to scrape the client, so it’s best to include your IP address on the dashboard of the proxy providers or through the service API.
By doing so, you are whitelisting your IP address with the proxy provider allowing you to access proxies without a username or a password.
Whitelisting is the process of allowing pre-approved IP addresses to access the proxies. Instead of sending a proxy-authentication header, you use your IP address to access the proxies. HTTPS requests with web browsers or testing with Selenium are also easy as there is no proxy-authentication header."
3) https://help.proxyra...ip-whitelisting
"We also offer the option to set up your account so that on each connection you are not forced to repeatedly enter your username and password (as this can become annoying). This is called IP whitelisting.
We allow you to connect up to 50 devices (individual IP addresses) to your account."
4) https://limeproxies....-one-secure/#ip
"Advantages of Using IP Authentication
Whenever you want to use your proxy from the IP address (or addresses) you previously whitelisted, you can do it automatically. There is no need to enter your username and password or any other information. This is a great timesaver if you use a big number of proxies. For example, imagine that you have 30 proxies and that you need to enter different passwords for each of them. IP authentication completely automates this process."
I could keep listing these as they are PUBLICLY AVAILABLE ON THE INTERNET and they clearly show you are WRONG and don't understand WHAT YOUR CUSTOMER ASKED rather than him asking it vaguely.
Hope it clears it up for you.
