Ingredients

  • 2 packages of chocolate cookies (such as Chocolinas or any similar chocolate wafer cookies)
  • 2 cups of dulce de leche
  • 2 cups of cream cheese (softened)
  • 1 cup of milk OR 1 cup of coffee (for dipping the cookies) I RECOMMEND USING COFFEE
  • Optional: cocoa powder or grated chocolate for garnish

Instructions

Prepare the Cream Mixture:

In a large mixing bowl, combine the dulce de leche and softened cream cheese. Use a hand mixer or whisk until the mixture is smooth and well blended.

Dip the Cookies:

Pour the milk into a shallow dish. Quickly dip each chocolate cookie into the milk, ensuring it’s coated but not soggy.

Layer the Cake:

In a rectangular or square dish, start layering the cake:
Place a layer of dipped cookies at the bottom of the dish.
Spread a layer of the cream mixture on top of the cookies.
Repeat the process, alternating layers of cookies and cream mixture. Aim for about 3-4 layers, ending with a cream layer on top.

Chill:

Once you’ve completed the layering, cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight. This allows the flavors to meld and the cookies to soften.

Serve:

Before serving, you can dust the top with cocoa powder or sprinkle grated chocolate for decoration. Cut into squares and enjoy!

Tips
If you can't find dulce de leche, you can make it by slowly cooking sweetened condensed milk, but store-bought is easiest.
This dessert is best served chilled and can be kept in the refrigerator for several days.

Enjoy The Chocotorta! :wiggle:

This is one of my favorite things I’ve made this year simply because it was so different. I used the pressure cooker method for the dulce de leche and was convinced it was going to blow up, but it worked! Next time I make this I’ll roll my cookies a bit more evenly, but it turned out delicious with a really unique flavor.
