Happened few minutes ago.
Some dude aproached me to convert he's ETH for my BTC with 10% fee (i offer 5 on thread so was already cautious), i offered to use @Lucas
as MM, but he told me he liked @Jocker
more.I was thrown in a group chat and i asked Jocker to confirm over nulled, he did, i replied with a screenshot of the convo asking him if that was him, he replied with yes.
He's discord ID didn't match so i asked him about that:
He again replied it was him.
I checked if the discord contained unicode and it did:
I PM'd @Lucas
that i suspected @Jocker
to be hacked, @Lucas
told me it was a fake discord, i showed @Lucas
the screenshots and PM convo and he contacted Jocker and asked him to throw him in the group.Other dude kicked him out, then re-added him again to after real jocker told it was just for verification.
Lucas told me but i didn't saw Lucas leaving or joining the group.
What they did:
They had 2 separate groups;
1 group with the real Jocker and a fake TimoKL discord.
1 group with the real TimoKL (me) and a fake Jocker discord.
They copied the messages the other sent between the group, so they would copy my messages to the fake timokl group and Jocker's messages to the group i was in.
Example:
My group with the fake Jocker:
TimoKL: Your discord ID doesn't match.
They would send this in the other group:
(Fake) TimoKL: Your discord ID doesn't match.
Then what ever Jockers response would be, they would forward that with the fake Jocker discord in the group i was in.
EDIT: To make it more clear, this way they have 2 identical chat rooms, one with fake MM and one with fake user, so any screenshot you send on site to the MM will be the exact same convo they have, so they will confirm.

for assisting, almost costed me 2k.Be extremely careful, always confirm discord ID, DON'T deal if they don't match, even if the person confirms over PM it's him.
EDIT:
Extra security steps you can take:
-Verify discord ID, you can do this by enabling dev mode and right clicking on the discord handle > copy ID.
Discord ID's can't change.

Then bottom option:
- Check the discord for unicode, this can be done here: https://www.textmagi...nicode-detector
Simply copy and paste the discord from the user you are talking with.
- Always ask to send wallet code on-site over PM to make sure you have the right wallet and money can be refunded.
